Space Galaxy Trio by Nail Hoot

The Space Galaxy Trio from Nail Hoot is a three polish set that I just got from a Secret Santa exchange this month. I asked my Secret Santa to introduce me to some new indie brands versus the more “mainstream” indie brands and she totally came through! The three polishes included in the set are beautiful dark holographics that are definitely reminiscent of the deep colors you would find in the depths of the galaxy.

Each of the swatches shown is three thinĀ coats of polish and one top coat of Seche Vite Quick Dry Top Coat unless otherwise noted. All images are shown under natural sunlight bulbs as well. To watch the live swatch click here.

“Dark Matter”

“Dark Matter” is a deep purple with a scattering of holographic microglitter throughout it. On the first layer the polish looks gray, all of the polishes in the trio do, but upon the second coat you see the deeper colors coming out. The purple in this shifts between being a lighter violet to a dark more grape color under different lights, but has a beautiful continuous shimmer throughout.

“Zero Gravity”

“Zero Gravity” is a beautiful blue filled once more with the holographic microglitter scattered throughout. This shade shifts from light sea blue to a deeper more cerulean blue in the different types of light, I loved this shade the most of all three of them, and will definitely be trying it out with some vinyls against gold or white.

“Escape Velocity”

“Escape Velocity” is a kind of green/gray mix, although it’s not really gray this has what I call “deceptive bottle syndrome”, where it appears one way in the bottle, but doesn’t match on the nail. This color appears definitely gray in the bottle, but on your nails the green comes out especially in lower light areas. In brighter or sunlit areas though the color appears much lighter and you see that kind of shift near gray.

Overall the colors all almost look exactly the same in the bottles if you have them in a generically lit room, and all of them appear to have a gray shift. But trust me none of them are in any way gray, the colors are gorgeous and deep they remind me of deeper gem stone colors. I love how dark they all are in fact, this set has a sister trio as well called Space Galaxy Trio II that is available on their site right now, although I don’t own it, it looks just as gorgeous as these three.
