The 1950’s Nostalgia Collection from Glisten & Glow is a collection of five gorgeous light cremes that both watermarble and stamp. These are all inspired by popular items, dances, music, iconic places, etc. from the 50’s and are so beautiful. These will be available on August 31st at 9:00 p.m. EST, the full collection will be just $40 and the shades can be bought individually for just $8.50 – so set an alarm to snag some beautiful! Now that all the basic information is out of the way, let’s get into the swatches and nail art!
Each of the swatches shown is two thin coats of polish and one top coat of HK Girl Top Coat from Glisten & Glow unless otherwise noted. All images are shown under Ottlite bulbs as well. To watch the live swatch click here.
Jukebox & Jitterbug
“Jukebox & Jitterbug” is a beautiful light minty green creme that goes on completely opaque in just two coats and is perfect for tons of nature themed manis. I played around with it with some panda designs, because they were so gorgeous against the smooth mint color of this creme.
Rock n’ Roll & Route 66
“Rock n’ Roll & Route 66” is a light robins egg blue creme with a dusting of green shimmers throughout. This goes on completely opaque for me in one coat, I did a second ons watches just to see if it deepens the color or shimmer, but nope it’s beautiful in the single coat. The shimmer is very subtle except when moving or in brighter lighting such as straight sunlight.
Hand Jive & Hula Hoops
“Hand Jive & Hula Hoops” is a beautiful mauve creme that goes on smoothly in only one coat, I threw a second one on just to keep things uniform, but if you have regular non stained non super opaque nails you can easily get away with one coat. This is my second favorite of the bunch because of it’s gorgeous hint of leaning toward purple.
Doo-Wop & Drive-Ins
“Doo-Wop & Drive-Ins” is a bright peachy pink creme that goes on smoothly in just two coats. Peach colors are not normally my forte, but I find myself enjoying this one for some reason it’s just such a happy color that goes well with other colors in the collection.
Saddle Shoes & Sock Hops
“Saddle-Shoes & Sock-Hops” is a stunning light tan creme leaning towards being a darker nude shade. This goes on well in two coats, it is one of those that does actually need the two coats or you will see nail tip even without a noticeable nail line. I feel like this is the perfect shade for if you have a job interview or work and aren’t supposed to wear polish, but still kind of want to.
Overall the entire collection is gorgeous and they all stamp and watermarble, I did some quick stamping to test this out and show it off which you can see below along with a lot of nail art. As stated before this collection will release on August 31st at 9:00 p.m. EST at the links above.
As you can see in the photo above all of these polishes stamp extremely well, I used the same image for each one, which unfortunately was not as long as the swatch sticks were. But nonetheless you can see how even in the smaller parts of the design there is no bubbling, tearing, or issues with the stamping. You do have to use a rolling method when pulling the polish up from the plate, but that is a common method used with non-stamping polishes.
**BONUS NAIL ART**
Below are several nail art designs done using these polishes, some of these will be popping up on my YouTube Channel in the next week so check it out if you have a fave you want to see!
